Carolyn has taught dance for over 10 years in recreational and competitive dance studios across Ottawa, Gatineau and in her hometown, Guelph. She has choreographed many award winning solos, duets/trios and groups and her dancers have performed at regional and national competitions throughout Canada and the United States.
While she specializes in teaching tap dancing, she is also highly qualified to teach ballet, jazz, hip hop and lyrical. Carolyn has trained with famous tap dancers like Travis and Tanya Knights, Allison Toffin, and Ethel Bruneau, and will be performing with the Ottawa Rhythm Initiative tap dance collective later this year.
Carolyn recently completed her M.A in Dance Studies from York University in Toronto and has presented her research at academic conferences in Vancouver, New Orleans, and Athens, Greece. She begins her PhD in Education with Studies in Teaching and Learning at the University of Ottawa this September, with a focus on dance education and gender.
She is so excited to be returning to DanceRstudios for the 2015/2016 season and looks forward to helping her students find their voices through movement.
